DeskCharge

  • Helps you choose activities strategically to change your mood & energy levels.

  • Understand which actions leave you drained of energy, and which leave you energised and ready to achieve more.

Why This Was Created:

The actions you take before starting a task can have a big impact on how difficult that task will be. For example, if you do some mindless scrolling on social media before studying, it’s going to be extremely difficult to go get some productive work done. On the other hand, if you were to do a short walk outdoors, or a read a few pages of a good book, when you start your next task you are going to be primed to do it more easily and with a higher quality of thinking.

How It Works:

This tool helps you analyse what activities are your “Chargers”, things that make you feel better afterwards and will help you perform better, as well as your “Drainers”, things that will leave you feeling less-focused and having less energy than before. It also helps you plan for upcoming activities and prepare yourself to strategically use chargers and drainers to your advantage.

How I Use It:

When working from home, I often have trouble feeling energetic at the start of the workday. So I like to go for a walk before the day starts, to get my energy flowing and my positive thinking going. Then at the end of the workday, I also do another walk to prime myself and get into a positive mind state for the rest of the day, where I can work on building myself and achieving my other goals.

Quotes:

“Unless you prime yourself, you're going to be primed by the environment.” - Tony Robbins

“The best persuaders become the best through pre-suasion - the process of arranging for recipients to be receptive to a message before they encounter it. To persuade optimally, then, it's necessary to pre-suade optimally. - Robert B. Cialdini
