DeskDecide
Helps you visualise the pros and cons of your options so that you can make optimal decisions in your life.
Allows you to quantify the positive and negative impacts of your options.
Why This Was Created:
Big decisions can be really hard to make. But sometimes making no decision at all can cost you more. When making big decisions in your career, relationships, family or how you will spend your time, it can benefit you to take a moment and deeply understand what each outcome may bring you. Taking a moment to analyse your options can pay itself back big time if it is going to save you many hours or even years down the track from making the wrong decision.
How It Works:
This tool allows you to take an important decision and analyse all options that are available to you. By scoring your expected outcomes, and analysing the pros and cons of each decision, you can quantitatively decide on what your best option is. You can also examine the best and worst case scenarios of each of your decisions to set floors and ceilings for the outcomes of your options. You may discover hidden pros and cons that you hadn’t thought of yet, and you will have a lot more confidence to make a decision and not look back on if it was the right one to make.
How I Use It:
Whenever I make big, life-changing decisions, I take a close look at the pros and cons of each of my options. Whether that was deciding to take a gap year before starting uni, deciding to leave my job to start a business, or deciding whether to end a relationship, analysing the pros and cons of my options gave me a lot of comfort in selecting my actions. Understanding my playing field before making decisions can often give me more confidence to make the big decisions I otherwise may have been too scared to make.
